Hi. I am Barry Joseph.
I am formerly the VP of Digital Experience at the Girl Scouts of the USA and Associate Director For Digital Learning at the American Museum of Natural History.
When I began at the Museum I used this blog to talk about my adventures, exploring issues related to digital media and museum-based learning. I featured original interviews, thought pieces, and highlights from my work and those of my colleagues at the AMNH.
Starting in 2020, with the launch of Barry Joseph Consultancy, LLC, I turned this blog into a place to explore digital engagement writ large.

“What’s it like to work at the AMNH?” The Museum and the Museum
As I approach the end of my second month at the AMNH, I am often asked by friends and family, “So, what’s it like to work at the Museum?” And what I tell them goes something like this: I work … Continue reading

My 1st 3D Captured, Modeled, and Printed Object
I have played with 3D printing in the past – I helped my son make a dollhouse clock in Sketch-up, which a friend then printed, and at Maker-Faire this year I used an iPad app to doodle the AMNH logo … Continue reading

New York Times Coverage of our Virtual Worlds Programs
While I can’t take any credit for the work described in this week’s New York Time’s article, “Engaging Children With the Siren Call of the App,” I am pleased as punch to see so much attention go to my colleagues … Continue reading
