How I Intend to Advance Digital Media & Museum-based Learning at the AMNH

This is my final of three transition posts. My first reflected back on my 12 years at Global Kids (“I’m Leaving GK and What You Can Do About It“). My second looked forward to starting my job at the AMNH (“I Am Joining the AMNH & What’s It To You“). This final one will look back at my first two months and describe, at long last, how my position at AMNH is designed to advance digital media and museum-based learning.

As I began to write it, however, it became excessively long, and I realized it would be best to make this an executive summary with links to the sub-sections. (Each post will begin with a link to the previous and end with a link to the next.)

Part 1 of 3: I Work In A Matryoshka Doll
Summary: My role is to support the capacity building of my colleagues towards the strategic use of digital media and learning (DML) practices and pedagogy for informal science and cultural learning.

Part 2 of 3: What’s In The Works?
Summary: Holy cow! You won’t believe it until you read it. But can I just say digital badges, MineCraft, 3D printing, and more?

Part 3 of 3: How Did The Transition Feel?
Summary: “God disturbs us towards our destiny…”

Finally, please don’t forget to follow me on twitter.
