Hi. I am Barry Joseph.
I am formerly the VP of Digital Experience at the Girl Scouts of the USA and Associate Director For Digital Learning at the American Museum of Natural History.
When I began at the Museum I used this blog to talk about my adventures, exploring issues related to digital media and museum-based learning. I featured original interviews, thought pieces, and highlights from my work and those of my colleagues at the AMNH.
Starting in 2020, with the launch of Barry Joseph Consultancy, LLC, I turned this blog into a place to explore digital engagement writ large.

NYTimes promotes MicroRangers in “Solving Mysteries at the AMNH, Smartphone in Hand”
Sometimes when it rains it pours. Today I am quoted in the New York Times, in two different pieces, each talking about digital games (both articles previewed online – the print versions come out tomorrow and this weekend). First, the … Continue reading

MicroRangers March Madness
I guess I’ll do anything to promote MicroRangers! This week CBS Sports came to the Museum to record a goofy bit interviewing staff about building a bracket for March Madness. I carried a MicroRanger coin with me JUST IN CASE … Continue reading
What’s the Buzz on MicroRangers? (A Brief Social Media Survey)
We’ve recently seen an uptick in social media postings about MicroRangers, from players as they play the new mobile game throughout the Museum. This is an informative (and exciting) way for us to collect unsolicited feedback about the player experience. … Continue reading
